Groovy: Classical Revolution
Groovy: Classical Revolution
Wednesday, April 20, 2011
I like to close my eyes when I taste ice cream. I can’t sit still when I hear the right beat of music. Watching strong dancers paint images with their bodies is better than ice cream. Images and sounds can have a big effect on us - even creating powerful stories without words. At goGIRLglobal, we know that traveling to hear groovy music or experience professional dance takes time and money so we bring it to you. So c’mon in Brisbane, Saudi Arabia, Edmonton and Sao Paulo, Cape Town ...and everywhere else! Do you like mystery...romance...drama? Close your eyes, take a breath and then re-open them by discovering some beautiful and moving performances - a classical revolution of powerful stories without words:
We listened to Zoë Keating’s cello music and went straight to her website HERE. We learned that “she is a one-woman orchestra. She uses a cello and a foot-controlled laptop to record layer upon layer of cello, creating intricate, haunting and compelling music.”
Zoe Keating’s music is magical and unique.
If you close your eyes, she creates vivid stories in your mind.
Travel to see her in person if you can someday -
it’s our big wish this week!

“Great dancers are not great because of their technique,
they are great because of their passion.”
- Martha Graham
Dancing is another way to tell your story.
Jacob’s Pillow let’s us explore so many of the types of dance and performers that have been on their stage. This is just one beautiful example from their virtual library.
Classical Revolution
Do you play an instrument or just love music? It may be hard to find the time or the money for music exploration. There is something special about falling off to sleep to music and this one Bach cello concerto is a favorite. Still there is nothing like live music, so try looking for a free venue in your community.
Our journey around San Francisco led us to the Red Poppy Art House where musicians are supported by playing in a local neighborhood venue. Thanks to a Classical Revolution we were made to feel at home and enjoyed amazing live music. Is there a classical revolution happening in your area? Find out!
